My research group investigates emergent phenomena associated with excited state quantum transport through nanostructured assemblies. This requires a thorough understanding of photon interactions with condensed matter. We draw on quantum many-body theory and perturbation or cumulant expansions to construct and study coherent and partially coherent transport models of weakly correlated systems. Electronic structure calculations are carried out to populate these meso-scale Hamiltonians. The goal of such research is to address fundamental issues in transport physics in collaboration with colleagues who emphasize experimental methods of inquiry.
